In Istanbul and Eskişehir, Anti-Terror TEM police teams raided the homes of the members and executives of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF), the employees of the Etkin News Agency (ETHA), and the Chairman of the Port and Terminal Workers Union DİSK/Limter-İş, Kanber Saygılı.

Saygılı’s leg was broken

Police attacked Saygılı’s son, Ekin Saygılı, who reacted to the breaking of the door of Limter-İş Chairman Kanber Saygılı’s house in the raid. Saygılı, who wanted to prevent the torture of her son, was dragged by the police and taken to the kitchen. Here, he was tortured separately, and Saygılı’s leg was injured as a result of the torture.

Police terror against ETHA
The door of the house where ETHA employees were staying was broken with a drill and a battering ram. During the house raid, it was revealed that a person not staying at that home was being sought, but no one was detained. In its statement on the arbitrariness, lawlessness, and police terror during the house raid, ETHA announced:

This morning, at around 06:30, the door of our house, where we live as ETHA employees, was broken with a drill and a battering ram and raided by the police.
Just ten days ago, on February 27, our house was raided again. Moreover, in today’s police raid, we learned that they were looking for someone who had never been to our home, let alone lived in our house.
TEM Divison police, who came to our house with armed and shielded special operations police, illegally did not show the search warrant for a long time. He did not provide information about who had a detention order against him. They treated the employees of our agency as if there was a detention order against them. They were not even allowed to wear their clothes.
As a result of our intense insistence, they informed us that they came to our house to detain Hivda Selen, a member of the SGDF Central Executive Committee. They refused to show the search warrants they had. Our house was illegally and arbitrarily searched.
We know Hivda Selen. She is a member of SGDF VQA. We’ve been questioned many times. But both the police and the prosecutor’s office know very well that Hivda Selen does not live in our house. By raiding our house every ten days, they aim to create uneasiness in our neighborhood and with neighbors.
We know what they want to do. You can’t silence the socialists or the socialist press. Your repression, police terror, and false propaganda have not deterred us so far and will not do so in the future.
Etkin News Agency has been publishing for years. It will continue to do so in the future. Your repressions, house raids, and detention terror cannot intimidate us.
